Private student loan lenders are not required to defer your loans for any reason, while the government student loan programs have many deferment plans. If you haven’t applied for those loans I would encourage you to complete the application on line at. If you still want to go the private student loan route you’re going to have to do some legwork to find out who will give you the best deal. Fees, interest rates, deferments (if available) vary from lender to lender. You’ll just need to start looking into what is available from the lenders and work with the one that offers the best deal. Check out for a list of some lenders.
