Should I consolidate my student loans?

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010
tangerine2883 asked:

I am starting law school this fall. I have about $25,000 in undergraduate student loans and I know absolutely nothing about finances! My loans are spread among 4 different lenders and people are calling my house everyday telling me that I will get all kinds of benefits if I consolidate. I didn’t consolidate when I graduated because the interest rate was high and my loans will go on deferment when I start school. So…the question is, will it really be worth it to consolidate now or are people just trying to sell me a loan? If I do not consolidate now, what are the chances that the interest rate will be lower by the time I graduate law school? Help!

where to find out information about your student loan?

Saturday, January 9th, 2010
well, it was recently brought to my attention that i have been very very behind on a perkins loan.I have put all my other loans in deferment and the reason i havent put this in deferment as well is because i never recieve d any paperwork or letters about it. I need specific information such as lenders and address so i can consolidate it… my question to you is: is there someplace i can look online to find out which federal loans are under my name or something? because i have no leads to anything about this loan and would like to get it handled now

Student Loan to purchase a house, need help finding money?

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

I found a great deal on a house i want to purchase. The house is only $49,000 and probably needs around 10k in work. So worst case scenario is 60k. I can get approved for a rehab loan, but they have too many stipulations. (plans, certified contractors, 1st time classes) and that would at least double my repair cost, since i plan on fixing it myself. I have 10k saved so i need around 40k to purchase the house. After i fix it, i can then get a conventional mortage. So i need to find money for 6 months, then pay it off. Where should i get this extra cash. Can i get a student loan. I have mostly scholarships and currently only have 3k in studen loans and i’m a senior. I can get 15k from my credit card at a low interest. I can refinance my car and take out another 15k in equity from my car. Or i can ask my mom to do a home equity loan on her house and borrow it from her. What’s the best way to do it.
Some more details: I am approved for the rehab loan, but obviously not a conventional mortgage, since it needs work.

I do have a job, and make enough to cover the mortgage, plus i have two friends that will move in with me. I can get a conventional mortgage after i repair the house.
